Article II – Membership

Section 1

Classes of Membership

There shall be three classes of membership in the Academy; professional, student and affiliate. The Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin or sexual orientation in granting or terminating membership or in regard to any of the benefits of membership.

Professional membership is defined as a licensed healthcare provider.

Student membership is defined as an unlicensed individual enrolled in a health science education institution.

Affiliate membership is a member who does not meet the definitions of Professional or Student membership, and whose qualifications may change from time to time.

Section 2

Membership in the Academy is a privilege, not a right, and is contingent upon

continuing compliance with these bylaws. Members are expected to be of good moral character and to adhere to the Code of Ethics as set forth in these bylaws. Failure to comply with these requirements may serve as a basis for denial or revocation of Academy membership.
